There's a First Time for Everything *

Driving around Mesa on weekends I always spot signs for Garage Sales. The wares are spread out on the lawn....displaying loads of useless junk. Always baby clothes, women's clothes, outgrown toys. Y'know...junk !
This is the reason I've never stopped at one...merely slowed down to peruse the 'offerings' and to avoid the car just pulling away from the curb.
For some inexplicable reason this Sunday I did my roll-by thing...and I stopped. There, glistening in the morning sun, were 4 wine glasses...calling my name. Red Wine glasses, lke my old friend Al always used for his Merlot as we sat and talked. (Was this yet ANOTHER prank by Al?? Hmmm) My last wine glass had tipped over in the freezer recently and cracked wide open. I thought I'd replace it...and here they were. When the young man finally emerged from the house I inquired, "How much for 2 wine glasses?" "One dollar". Cheap enough I thought.."How much for all 4?" At these prices I thought to 'back-up' my supply. "One dollar.."
I saw there was NO future for this kid as a Hedge Fund manager, so I whipped out a buck and walked off with my newfound treasure. (Y'see why I attribute all this to Al? It's the sense of humor and the irony.) Now I hadda protect 'em on the ride home on the seat of the Miata.
Y'see? Sometimes even nice guys get a break.
