When I shop at local supermarkets, etc. I always bring along my own plastic bags. I've got 'em from former visits and re-use them again and again. Eventually when they show signs of wear (like split sides) I double 'em up and use them for garbage bags. My feeble attempt at recycling.
But the real question, besides the futility of this disposal effort is...do these bags actually reproduce while in storage? There's ALWAYS an unending supply. I re-use, re-cycle and eventually discard...so I re-submit the question to you.
I haven't accepted a new plastic bag since 2008 (maybe 2006), but still I have PLENTY. How's that even possible? I sometimes smile as I unfold a Goodwill bag or a 99 cent store bag at upscale Safeway or Fry's, the First Line supermarkets in town.
So here's the question: Am I being Ecologically Correct? Am I saving the planet for future generations? Or am I just being a cheap Bastard? I certainly can't fathom the implications. Please, give me a clue...
