There's a certain assignment I set into my schedule every week.! It's too delightful to miss.
I drive up to visit Devon and Sasha...the Grandkids.
It's oh so rewarding to see them develope and grow and assert themselves. They remind me constatntly that they are sponges of learning...New movs..new demads..new expressions of confidence and competence.
Sandi, their mother, recounts incidents of their quiet grasp of perception..their understanding even without words of reply. She relates of telling Sasha (not yet 2 years old) "It's time for bed, Go kiss Dady goodnight."
She was amazed when little Sasha waddled over to her father, planted a kiss on his cheek, and headed off to her bedroom. Amaaaazing.
Devon, (almost 3 years old) is much more specific in his demands. Whether it's declining Mom's help with his shorts, "I do it"...or dircting Grampa to "Draw Thomasss" (the train) and first specifying an "Airpane" flying overhead. Specific. Certain. Unyielding. And then, "tunnel" into which Thomas is heading, just like us at the Train Park. And the invariable answer to the immortal question, "Ready for your bath?" is always, "Swim in pool". (Need Mom ask??)
All clear statements of preference from this little tyrant, based on his 'vast' experience with options presented. If this isn't clear statements of perception and personal choice, then what is?
I find it admirable and delightful...the extent of his competence and confidence.
But I'm his GramPa...I may be prejudiced. Yes?
